Hello everybody - in case anyone is reading this.

I guess I should state my interest in doing this, to clarify it for myself if nothing else. I've always been intersted in sports, and have become a serious fan of several disciplines about a year ago - most notably tennis and football (that is soccer if you're American, but I'm not and I will never feel cofortable with that term). I have also had my feminist awakening when I took a class on violence and politics las term, which dealt with systems of oppression like patriarchy. This has really opend my eyes to the way a fandom that I love and cherish tends to treat women. It's quite horrifying, to be honest. Of course, I don't want to demonize sports fandom as sexist in general, but there's an undercurrent of sexism found in all sports I watch that I often find shocking. And I've always wanted to speak out about this. So this blog will be a platform for that.

What you will find here (actually I have no clue, but these are my plans): Discussion of events that catch my eye related to sexism in sports, articles I find interesting on the topics, appreciation of female athletes that I admire (and of male athletes that stand up for them, should that happen) and general rants when I'm fed up with the world.
